  • 1. How to set up a website for Site Monitoring?

When you first set up your project, you will be forwarded to the Site Monitoring settings. There you will be able to activate the monitoring and set its frequency for the crawling. Frequency means how often your website will be automatically re-crawled.
In case you skipped this part at your first setup, you will still be able to change it in the settings of your project.

    2. Can I get a report from Site Monitoring?

There is no option to export all the results from the Site Monitoring tool. However, you can export the particular changes that were made. To do this, just click on “Export” button (see the screenshot below.

Also, you will be provided with alerts to your email immediately if your website is down, important landing pages become non-indexable in robots.txt and meta tag robots, or HTTP status codes changed and vice versa if wrong pages become indexable.

    3. Where does Site Monitoring takes the information from?

Site Monitoring compares all the crawls we have made on your website. We take only the information that our own tool has collected directly from your website.

    4. Can I see the changes that were made in the past?

As it was said before, our tool takes the information directly from your website by scanning it. Thus, we can only track your website after you add it to the tool and enable Site Monitoring.

    5. What does Site Monitoring check for?

Site Monitoring checks your website for major and minor changes. You can track such changes with URLs, source code, page content. It checks if your website is down, whether important landing pages become non-indexable in robots.txt and meta tag robots, or HTTP status codes changed and vice versa if wrong pages become indexable.

    6. How to stop the notifications from Site Monitoring?

You can either stop Monitoring your website at all, or you can just stop the notifications.  If you no longer want to monitor the website, you can simply stop the monitoring by turning it off in the settings of your project.

If you just do not want to get the notification to your email address, you can turn the notification from Site Monitoring off. Just go to the Settings of your profile and then to Notification settings. There you will be able to adjust the notifications accordingly.

    7. Can I see only the specific changes that were made on the website?

You can easily sort the changes by their type on a graph and in the dropdown changes menu.

    8. What is it useful for?

There are tons of successful use cases of using Sitechecker.  As a developer, you can protect your online business from losing traffic due to the mistakes of developers, content managers, and marketers.
As an agency, you can demonstrate, to your customers, the updates you have made on the websites.
As a marketing specialist, you can measure the impact of website content changes on SERP visibility and conversion.

    9. What is the difference between Site Audit and Site Monitoring?

Site Audit is a static summary of your website's issues. Site Monitoring is a log of all events on the website. Many of them can be identified as bad or good only by you or the expert responsible for the website.

    10. How does Sitechecker protect me from hacking?

Sitechecker can’t protect you from hacking. You should use specific methods and tools to avoid that. However, Sitechecker has a unique website content monitoring feature that allows you to quickly detect suspicious code changes and reduce the risk of significant damage.

    11. I am trying to start tracking a competitor's website for changes, but get a notification that Sitecheckerbot is blocked. How can I fix that?

Unfortunately, you can’t fix that. Any website owner can block bots from crawling their website in robots.txt, .htaccess, or other methods. Sitecheckerbot follows the rules of the robots.txt file; only verified website owners can ignore them.

    12. I am sure that a specific event didn’t happen on my website. How can I recheck it?

If you think that Site Monitoring shows incorrect data, contact our support team via chat or email, support@sitechecker.pro

    13. Do you have Site Monitoring API?

We do not currently have Site Monitoring API, but you can vote for this feature in our roadmap.
