How to use Search Conversion report in GSC Insights

The Search Conversion report in Sitechecker GSC Insights combines Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 data for each page of your site.

You see how a page performs in search and what visitors do after they land on it, in one table. This shows which pages bring not just traffic, but results.

What you can do with Search Conversion

  • See search metrics and on-site behavior for every page in one place.
  • Find pages with lots of clicks but few key events.
  • Find pages that convert well but get little traffic.
  • Choose the metrics you want to see on the chart.
  • Look at one part of your site with segments.
  • See how many more clicks and key events a page could get.

Before you start

Connect both Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 to your project. If one of them is missing, the report shows a button to connect it.

The first sync can take some time. Sitechecker shows a progress screen while it imports the data.

How it works

Sitechecker matches Search Console pages with Google Analytics 4 pages. GA4 data includes only Google organic traffic, so both sources describe the same visitors.

If a GA4 URL has parameters, its data is added to the main URL from Search Console.

GA4 metrics use the primary key event set in your project. If GA4 has no data for a page, you see a dash.

Metrics

From Google Search Console: Clicks, Impressions, CTR, Position, Ranking Keywords and Ranking Pages.

From Google Analytics 4: Sessions, Bounce Rate, Avg Session Duration, Key Events and Session Key Event Rate.

Potential metrics:

  • Potential Clicks: extra clicks the page could get at a 10% CTR. Formula: (Impressions × 0.1) − Clicks.
  • Potential Key Events: extra key events at the page's current key event rate. Formula: (Potential Clicks × Session Key Event Rate) − Key Events.

Metric cards and chart

The report shows five metric cards above the chart. Click Customize Metrics to choose which five to show and in what order. Your choice is saved for the project.

The chart works the same way as in the Overview report, with day, week and month views.

Pages table

The table lists your pages with their top ranking keyword and all metrics. Use Manage Columns to choose what to show.

Click the number in Ranking Keywords to open the Overview report with that page's keywords for the same dates.

When you compare periods, the table shows the change in percent. You can also turn on absolute values.

Filters and segments

Use the date picker to choose and compare periods. The dates are limited to the period both sources have data for.

Pick a segment above the filters to look at one part of your site. You can search pages and filter them with rules, including regular expressions.

How to use it in practice

  1. Sort by Clicks and look at Key Events. Pages with many clicks and few key events need a better offer, call to action or page layout.
  2. Sort by Session Key Event Rate. Pages that convert well but have low clicks are good candidates for SEO work.
  3. Use Potential Key Events to choose which pages to improve first.
