How to use New & Lost Keywords report in GSC Insights
The New & Lost Keywords report in Sitechecker GSC Insights shows which keywords your site started to rank for and which ones it stopped ranking for.
It compares two periods and shows how many keywords you gained or lost, and how much traffic came with them.

What you can do with New & Lost Keywords
- See keywords your site started to rank for.
- See keywords your site no longer ranks for.
- Check the total clicks, impressions, CTR and position of new or lost keywords.
- See the top ranking page for each keyword.
- Open Page Details for any page.
How it works
Sitechecker compares the period you choose with the previous period of the same length.
- New keywords have search data in the current period, but had none in the previous one.
- Lost keywords had search data in the previous period, but have none now or all their metrics are zero.
Tabs and summary
The report has two tabs: New Keywords, which opens by default, and Lost Keywords.
Above the table, you see the number of keywords and their total impressions and clicks, average position and CTR. On the Lost Keywords tab, these values are shown as negative numbers, because this is traffic you lost.
Table
New keywords are sorted by clicks. Lost keywords are sorted by the clicks they lost.
For each keyword you see its search metrics and its top ranking page. Click the magnifier icon to open Page Details.
Filters
Use the date picker to choose the period. You can search keywords and filter by Keywords, Devices and Countries.
How to use it in practice
- Check the Lost Keywords tab every month. Start with the keywords that lost the most clicks and open their top page.
- If many lost keywords lead to one page, the page may have changed, lost links or been replaced by another page.
- Use the New Keywords tab to find topics where Google starts to see you as relevant. Expanding those pages can bring more traffic.
