How to use Google AI Overview tab in AI Visibility
The Google AI Overview report in Sitechecker AI Visibility shows how often Google shows an AI Overview for your tracked keywords and whether your site appears in it.
It uses the keywords you already track in Rank Tracker, so you get AI Overview data without any extra setup.

What you can do with Google AI Overview
- See what share of your tracked keywords trigger an AI Overview.
- Check how often Google cites your site or mentions your brand in AI Overviews.
- Follow your average citation position over time.
- Find keywords where an AI Overview appears but your site is not cited.
- Read the AI Overview text and its sources for any keyword.
How it works
Rank Tracker checks the Google results for your tracked keywords every day. When a result page has an AI Overview, Sitechecker saves its text and the list of cited sources.
Sitechecker then checks two things. It checks whether your domain is among the cited sources, and in which position. It also checks whether the AI Overview text mentions your brand name.
The Google AI Overview report adds these results up across all your keywords, day by day.
Before you start
You need keywords on track in Rank Tracker. If your project has no tracked keywords, the report shows an empty screen with a button to add them.
Click Add Keywords in the report header to open your project's keyword settings at any time.
If you also want impressions, clicks and CTR for each keyword, connect Google Search Console to your project.
Filters
Use the date picker to choose the period. The charts show the whole period. The table shows keywords that have an AI Overview on the last day of the period.
You can filter by country, device, language and search volume, the same way as in Rank Tracker. The search field finds keywords by their text.
Four filters are made for AI Overviews:
- AI Citation: show keywords where your site is cited, or where it is not.
- Citation URL: show keywords where a specific page of your site is cited.
- Citation Position: show keywords where your citation sits in a chosen position range.
- AI Brand Mention: show keywords where the AI Overview mentions your brand, or where it does not.
Metric cards and chart
AI Overview Share is the percentage of your tracked keywords that show an AI Overview. Hover over the chart to see how many keywords had an AI Overview on that day out of all tracked keywords.
Visibility has two views, and you can switch between them on the card. Citation Visibility is the percentage of AI Overviews that cite your domain. Brand Mention Visibility is the percentage of AI Overviews that mention your brand in the text.
For example, if 100 of your keywords show an AI Overview and 30 of them cite your site, your citation visibility is 30%.
Average Citation Position is the average position of your site among the sources in AI Overviews where you are cited. A lower number means your site appears higher in the list.
You can view the chart by day, week or month, and add notes to mark events like a content update.

Keywords table
The table lists every tracked keyword that shows an AI Overview. It works like the Rank Tracker table, with sorting, pages and Manage Columns.
The table can show these columns:
- Keyword and Search engine: the keyword and the search engine setup it is tracked in.
- AI Overview: whether an AI Overview appeared on the last check.
- Citation in AI Overview: whether the AI Overview cites your site.
- Brand Mention in AI Overview: whether the AI Overview text mentions your brand.
- Volume: the monthly search volume.
- SERP Position: your position in the regular Google results.
- Citation Position: your position among the AI Overview sources.
- Citation position change: how your citation position changed over 1, 7, 30 and 90 days.
- Citation URL: the page of your site that the AI Overview cites. If Site Audit has data for this page, click it to open Page Details.
- GSC data: impressions, clicks, position and CTR, if Google Search Console is connected.
Use Manage Columns to show, hide, reorder or pin columns.

AI Overview Analysis
Click Sources on any keyword to open AI Overview Analysis.
It shows the list of sources the AI Overview cites, with your domain highlighted. Click View AI Snippet to read the AI Overview text itself.
Use it to see which pages Google trusts for the keyword and what the answer says about your topic.

How to use it in practice
Start with AI Overview Share. A high share means AI Overviews already affect a big part of your keywords, so your clicks from those keywords may drop even if your rankings stay the same.
Then filter by AI Citation: Without citation. These are keywords where Google shows an AI Overview but does not use your site. Sort by volume and start with the biggest ones.
Open AI Overview Analysis for those keywords. Check which pages Google cites and what they cover that your page does not.
Compare SERP Position with Citation in AI Overview. If you rank in the top 3 but are not cited, your page likely needs a clearer, direct answer to the question.
After you update a page, add a note on the chart and watch Citation Visibility and the citation position change columns.
