How to use Groups tab in Rank Tracker

The Groups tab in Sitechecker Rank Tracker shows your results by keyword group, so you can compare topics, products or sections of your site.

Each group gets its own visibility, average position, total volume and changes over time. You can open any group to see the pages that rank for its keywords.

What you can do with the Groups tab

  • Compare visibility between topics, products or site sections.
  • See which groups grow and which fall behind.
  • Check the total search volume and average position of each group.
  • See which pages rank for the keywords of a group.
  • See how many keywords in a group show a Google AI Overview.

Before you start

Groups come from your keyword setup. You assign a group when you add keywords, or later with Move to Group/URL on the Keywords tab.

You need at least two groups to use this tab. With one group or none, the tab shows a button to open the keyword setup and add more groups.

How it works

Rank Tracker takes all keywords in a group and calculates the group metrics from them. The formulas are the same as for pages and keywords.

The charts, filters and date picker work the same way as on the Keywords tab.

Groups table

The table shows one row per group. The main columns are:

  • Group Visibility: the visibility of all keywords in the group.
  • Group Visibility Trend: a small chart of the group visibility. Click the magnifier icon to open a larger chart.
  • Group Visibility changes: the change in visibility for 1, 7, 30 and 90 days, and for all time.
  • Group Tracked Keywords: the number of tracked keywords in the group.
  • Group Keywords Volume: the total search volume of the group.
  • Group Average Position: the average position of all keywords in the group.
  • Group Potential Rank: the total Potential Rank of the group.

If some keywords in a group show a Google AI Overview, you see a label like "15 of 946" next to the number of tracked keywords.

Pages inside a group

Click the arrow next to a group to see the pages that rank for its keywords. For each page you see its visibility, changes, tracked keywords, volume, average position and Potential Rank.

The same page can appear in several groups. This happens when keywords from different groups lead to one page. It is a useful signal: these keywords may belong in one group, or you may need separate pages for them.

How to use it in practice

Create groups that match how you report, for example by product, service, location or funnel stage.

Sort by Group Visibility to see your strongest topics. Sort by Group Keywords Volume to see where the biggest demand is.

Compare a group with high volume and low visibility against your content plan. That gap is often where new pages or updates pay off most.

For agencies, groups make client reports simple. Each group can match one service or project the client cares about.
